On 13 June 2025, NUSS members set off from Kent Ridge Guild House for a two-day cultural getaway to Malacca, a UNESCO World Heritage city rich in history and flavour.
After breakfast at Hua Kee Kopitiam and a surprise visit to the Malacca Bee Gallery, the group enjoyed a hearty Peranakan lunch at Atlantic Nyonya Restaurant — a favourite among members. Shared tables sparked warm conversations and new friendships.
Highlights included a tour of the Baba Nyonya Heritage Museum, a nostalgic nod to The Little Nyonya, and a hands-on batik painting session, where 89-year-old Mdm Junia Loh wowed with her creativity.
The evening featured a scenic Melaka River Cruise and free time at Jonker Street Night Market. The next day began with breakfast and quick shopping stops before a heritage walking tour of iconic sites like The Stadthuys and A Famosa Fort, led by engaging guide Francis.
The trip ended with a final Peranakan lunch at Nyonya Lins Kitchen and a snack stop at Ming Ann in Yong Peng — wrapping up a meaningful and memorable experience.
This Malacca Heritage and Batik Art Tour is part of the NUSS Tour Series, which offers members curated travel experiences — from distant adventures to nearby gems.
