The evening began with a welcome address by Mr Soh Yi Da, Chairperson of the Intellectual Pursuit Sub-Committee, with an introduction of NVPC and highlighting the Society’s initiatives which reflects a strong commitment to social responsibility.

Mr Edwin Yeo, Lead of BoardMatch & Advisory, introduced CNPL BoardMatch and highlighted the importance of purposeful board leadership.

A panel discussion featuring Ms Cheryl Ong-Tungka, Board Chair of Image Mission Limited, Ms Irene Chong, Deputy President & Chair IT Sub-Committee of Society for the Aged Sick; Board Member & Chair Social Ventures Committee of Metropolitan YMCA Singapore, and Mr Johnny Quah, Board Member of Children’s Aid Society and School Advisory Committee of Sembawang Secondary School, shed light on the challenges, rewards, and responsibilities of serving on charity boards.

At NUSS, we are proud to foster civic-mindedness among our members. Our partnerships — including this with NVPC — reflect our commitment to providing platforms that empower members to engage with causes that matter. From adopted charities like Children’s Wishing Well and Dover Park Hospice to initiatives like Project Sweet Dreams, we remain dedicated to advancing social responsibility.

As Singapore builds a more compassionate society, we each have a role to play. Whether you’re a seasoned professional or new to volunteering, this session offered valuable insights on how to serve with purpose and make a lasting impact.
