From 9 to 17 September 2025, 80 NUSS members embarked on an unforgettable overseas golf trip to Zhangjiajie, China. With 60 golfers and their travel companions, the nine-day journey seamlessly combined spirited games on the greens with moments of cultural discovery and camaraderie.
The golfers teed off at three distinctive courses across Hunan province, beginning with a relaxed social round at Hunan Star River Golf Club before moving on to the first official competition at Hunan Qingzhuhu International Golf Club. The final showdown at the spectacular Zhangjiajie Skydoor Golf Club, framed by the dramatic backdrop of Tianmen Mountain, proved both scenic and challenging.
Friendly rivalry ran high throughout the competition rounds, showcasing excellent play across the field. After combining scores, Chong Jun Ching was crowned the Overall Champion.

While golfers battled it out on the fairways, their companions enjoyed a specially curated programme that showcased the best of Hunan and Zhangjiajie. From tranquil walks up Yuelu Mountain and a serene boat ride on Baofeng Lake to visits to the former residences of Liu Shaoqi and Mao Zedong, every experience brought fresh perspectives and lasting memories.
Shared highlights for the entire group included crossing the glass-bottom bridge at Da Xia Gu canyon, exploring the misty peaks of Yuanjiajie and Tianzi Mountain, and immersing in the vibrant Charming Xiangxi Show. An evening excursion to the 72-Storey Fantastic Tower capped the experience with breathtaking night views.
While some members returned to Singapore earlier, others extended their stay to wander through Phoenix Ancient Town and Furong Town, deepening friendships and adding more layers of discovery to the trip.
Blending sport, nature, and culture, the Zhangjiajie golf trip was more than just a getaway — it was a celebration of community and shared experiences. Participants returned with medals and mementos, but more importantly, also with cherished memories and eager anticipation for the next NUSS overseas golfing adventure.
