NUSS Overseas Business Mission: Connecting Ideas, Building Networks in Batam

An Intellectual Pursuits Initiative

From 30 October to 1 November 2025, NUSS organised an Overseas Business Mission to Batam, Indonesia, under its Intellectual Pursuits initiative – offering members valuable opportunities to gain first-hand insights into regional economic developments and explore avenues for cross-border collaboration.

The three-day visit focused on Batam – Indonesia’s strategic growth corridor within the Indonesia–Singapore–Malaysia Growth Triangle. Participants engaged with key agencies and industry partners, including BP Batam, the Consulate-General of the Republic of Singapore in Batam, Batam Polytechnic, Nongsa Digital Park, Batamindo Industrial Park, and Batu Ampar Port.

Through briefings and site visits, members gained a deeper understanding of Indonesia’s investment climate and industrial ecosystem. Discussions with representatives from Kadin (Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry), the Governor’s Team for Development Acceleration (TGUPP Riau Islands), BRI Bank, Access Indonesia, and the Indonesia Investment Promotion Centre (IIPC) Singapore provided valuable perspectives on the opportunities arising from Indonesia’s expanding infrastructure, manufacturing, and digital sectors.

The mission also underscored Batam’s role as a natural partner to Singapore — evolving from a traditional manufacturing base into a hub for logistics, digital innovation, and sustainable development.

Beyond the business agenda, the mission served as a meaningful platform for networking and relationship building among NUSS members and regional stakeholders. Participants exchanged ideas, shared experiences, and explored potential collaborations that support mutual growth within the ASEAN region.

Through Intellectual Pursuits initiatives such as this, NUSS continues to broaden members’ horizons — connecting them to new opportunities, regional partners, and global perspectives that enrich both professional and personal development.
