Over the March school holidays, eight parent-child duos from NUSS put their Badminton skills and teamwork to the test at the Papago Badminton Carnival (endorsed by Singapore Badminton Association).
Held from 13 to 21 March 2021 at Singapore Sports School’s Auditorium Hall with over 500 participants, the NUSS teams participated under the Parent and Child — Boys Under 11 and Boys Under 15 categories. The players were excited to be back on the courts after a long hiatus due to the ongoing pandemic.
For Mr SK Tham, a seasoned Badminton tournament participant, it was an interesting experience taking part in the tournament during the COVID-19 period with strict safety measures. But more importantly, it marked the first time he was entering a tournament with his son – 12-year-old tournament first timer, Yu Jay.
“We didn’t prepare much beforehand, but there were a lot of discussion between both of us during and after the games. Both of us enjoyed this shared experience – filled with laughter, cheer, victories and defeats, together as father and son,” recalled Mr Tham. “We’ll definitely join the tournament again as father and son in future!”
Well done to all our hardworking badminton duos who represented NUSS this year — what a brilliant show of skill and sportsmanship! We all hope for a better year next year, where more badminton lovers can gather to play the sport.
